“Socks” is the foundation of everything we are building at Bourbon Country Retrievers.
She represents the rare combination every serious Labrador breeder hopes to find—elite pedigree, proven performance, outstanding intelligence, exceptional trainability, and the natural ability to produce the next generation of great retrievers.
A beautifully built dark chocolate female with tremendous athleticism, Socks is sired by the legendary NFC AFC Storm’s Riptide Star, the only chocolate National Field Champion in history, and out of HR Gator Points Rockin’ The Boat MH QA2, giving her one of the most accomplished chocolate pedigrees in the country.
Socks has more than lived up to those expectations.
She accumulated 12 Derby points, including a Derby win, earned a place on the National Derby List, became a National Derby Finalist, achieved her Hunting Retriever Champion title, earned her AKC Master Hunter title, and successfully passed the International Grand twice. These accomplishments have only been achieved by only a select group of chocolate females.
While her accomplishments speak for themselves, what truly separates Socks is who she is every day.
She is an exceptionally stylish marker with tremendous desire, a relentless work ethic, and a calm, confident demeanor. She possesses the intelligence and natural cooperation that make advanced training enjoyable, always approaching each day eager to learn and ready to work. Whether in training, competition, or the duck blind, Socks consistently demonstrates the qualities we value most—heart, consistency, and dependability.
As important as her accomplishments are, we believe Socks’ greatest contribution is still ahead of her.

Fun Fact
Socks earned her name because of the bright white pads on the bottom of each of her feet. When she’s running across a field, it looks like she’s wearing a perfectly matched pair of white socks—a fitting name for a truly unforgettable dog.
