“Fever”

Bourbon Country’s She’s Running Hot

Some dogs build their legacy through competition. Others build it through the generations they produce. Fever is one of those exceptional females whose greatest contribution is helping shape the future of Bourbon Country Retrievers.

Fever is, without question, one of the sweetest dogs in our kennel. Her gentle personality, calm demeanor, and affectionate nature make her a favorite of everyone who meets her. She possesses the kind of loyal, easygoing temperament that we believe every Labrador Retriever should have, while still carrying the intelligence, athleticism, and natural instincts expected of an elite retriever.

A striking dark chocolate female, Fever is so richly pigmented that she is often mistaken for a black Labrador. She has beautiful breed type with strong bone, balanced structure, an elegant head, and effortless movement. Her combination of beauty, intelligence, and disposition makes her an outstanding representation of the Labrador Retriever and exactly the kind of female we strive to incorporate into our breeding program.

Fever’s pedigree is nothing short of exceptional. She is sired by the legendary FC AFC It’s All Over Now Baby Blue, one of the most influential chocolate field trial sires in modern Labrador history, and out of Gator Point’s Gimme Some Lovin MH QAA, combining two outstanding performance families. Her pedigree also includes elite retrievers such as FC AFC Tiger McBunn, FC AFC Carolina’s Smoke On The Water, GRHRCH Pirate’s Myle High Booty MH QAA, and numerous Field Champions, Amateur Field Champions, Qualified All-Age retrievers, Master Hunters, and Hall of Fame dogs. These generations of proven genetics have provided the foundation for the intelligence, trainability, marking ability, and athleticism she consistently passes to her offspring.

Although Fever was never extensively campaigned in hunt tests or field trials, she displayed excellent natural marking ability, tremendous desire, and an undeniable love for the water. More importantly, she possessed the calm confidence, intelligence, and cooperative nature that make exceptional retrievers enjoyable to train and wonderful companions to live with.

Where Fever truly shines is as a producer. She has consistently produced puppies with beautiful structure, exceptional intelligence, natural athleticism, and outstanding water attitudes. Her offspring are proving to be exactly what we hoped they would become—beautiful Labrador Retrievers with the ability and temperament to excel both in the field and at home.

One of her standout puppies, Bourbon Country’s Powerful Protection Stone “Onyx,” is already demonstrating tremendous promise and represents the future of our breeding program. We have also welcomed another of Fever’s daughters, Bourbon Country’s You Look Like You Love Me “Riley,” back into our kennel, and we have very high expectations for her future. Together, they represent the next generation of Fever’s influence and the lasting legacy she is creating at Bourbon Country Retrievers.

While championships often define great competitors, we believe great brood females are defined by the generations they leave behind. Fever’s story is still being written, but we are confident her greatest accomplishments will be measured through the exceptional Labradors she continues to produce.
