A Little Bit About Boogie…

Boogie is more than an exceptional retriever—he is one of the dogs that helped shape Bourbon Country Retrievers into what it is today.

We purchased Boogie when he was just two years old, and over the next six years he took us on an incredible journey. From the very beginning, it was obvious he possessed uncommon talent. His natural marking ability, intelligence, athleticism, and desire to retrieve separated him from the average dog, and he quickly proved he belonged among the very best.

Boogie advanced rapidly through the hunt test game, earning his Senior Hunter title before quickly moving into the Master level. He qualified for two AKC Master Nationals, demonstrating the consistency, trainability, and natural ability required to compete at the highest level of the sport. Although we experienced a few tough breaks at the Master National, we never questioned Boogie’s ability or heart.

Believing he had even more to accomplish, we partnered with our good friend Steve Earick, one of the most respected trainers in the HRC community and a handler recognized for achieving one of the highest pass rates in the history of the HRC International Grand. Under Steve’s guidance, Boogie elevated his game even further, successfully passing two of three International Grands and earning the prestigious title of Grand Hunting Retriever Champion (GRHRCH).

Boogie’s pedigree is equally as impressive as his accomplishments. Sired by the legendary ‘96 NFC AFC Storm’s Riptide Star, the only chocolate National Field Champion in history, and out of Gator Point’s Gimme Some Lovin MH QAA, his pedigree is filled with influential retrievers including FC AFC Rippin’ Blue Thunder, FC AFC Carolina’s Smoke On The Water, GRHRCH Pirate’s Myle High Booty MH QAA, FC AFC Rebel Ridge Cody’s Mischief, FC AFC Land Ahoy, and numerous Field Champions, Amateur Field Champions, Qualified All-Age retrievers, and Master Hunters. It is a pedigree built upon generations of proven performance and excellence.

Today, Boogie has retired from competition, but his impact on Bourbon Country Retrievers is far from over.

As a proven sire, he is already passing along the qualities that made him such a special retriever—intelligence, athleticism, exceptional marking ability, beautiful structure, outstanding water attitude, and the calm, biddable temperament that made him such a pleasure to train. His offspring are beginning to make their own mark, and we are excited to watch his legacy continue through future generations.
