“Bee” is the complete package and represents exactly what we strive to produce at Bourbon Country Retrievers—a beautifully balanced Labrador Retriever with exceptional structure, outstanding temperament, natural ability, and the pedigree to positively influence future generations.
A striking dark chocolate female, Bee possesses the classic appearance described in the Labrador Retriever breed standard. From her beautiful head and expression to her balanced structure, strong bone, athletic movement, and effortless style, she exemplifies the qualities that have made the Labrador Retriever one of the world’s most admired sporting breeds.
Bee’s pedigree combines generations of proven performance with exceptional hunting genetics. Descending from accomplished retrievers including Elmwoods Batter Up QAA MH NDL, FC AFC Louisiana Black Magic Spell, FC AFC Trumarc’s Sting, and numerous Master Hunters, Hunting Retriever Champions, Qualified All-Age retrievers, and National Derby List dogs, she carries the genetic foundation we believe is essential for producing intelligent, athletic, and highly trainable retrievers.
Although Bee has had limited opportunities to compete in hunt tests or spend extensive time hunting, she has consistently demonstrated the natural marking ability, intelligence, and willingness to learn that we value in our program. Just as importantly, she possesses the calm, affectionate, and highly biddable temperament that makes exceptional retrievers wonderful companions both in the home and in the field.
While Bee certainly has the talent to continue advancing in performance events, we believe her greatest contribution will be as a cornerstone breeding female. Her combination of structure, pedigree, trainability, and disposition gives us tremendous confidence that she will produce puppies capable of excelling as family companions, hunting partners, and competitive retrievers.
We are excited to welcome Bee’s first litter in August 2026, a milestone that marks the beginning of what we believe will be a lasting legacy within the Bourbon Country Retrievers breeding program. We have high expectations for the future and believe Bee possesses all the qualities necessary to become one of the premier producers in our kennel.
Fun Fact
Bee’s name is one of our favorite stories because it combines her pedigree with our Kentucky roots.
Her grandsire, FC AFC Trumarc’s Sting, inspired the “Sting” portion of her registered name. From there, we couldn’t help but think of one of Kentucky’s greatest icons, Muhammad Ali, whose famous phrase, “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” became legendary around the world.
That inspiration led to her registered name, Bourbon Country’s Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee, while her call name, Bee, was the perfect fit.
For us, her name represents more than a clever play on words. It honors an influential dog in her pedigree, pays tribute to one of Kentucky’s greatest sports legends, and reflects the Bluegrass heritage that is woven into everything we do at Bourbon Country Retrievers.
